{ Stages&Phase }

           Time: the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole. Time depicts our future and our past. Portraying time as an element in my artwork was very difficult. I chose butterflies because the stages that they go through in their short life spans are very apparent to all ages. Even as elementary schoolers we studied the very delicate importance of every phase in a butterflies life. As humans we don't have as set phases, but instead stages.
            In my perspective the very thing that portrays our stages, are our hands. They grow along with our maturity, intelligence, and physical stature. Hands symbolize that to a certain degree time is in our hands, and we decide how to spend it. "The key is not spending time, but investing in it." Butterflies on the other hand can symbolize transformation and growth, but also mystery. In the cocoon a butterfly goes from a caterpillar, to a liquid, to a brand new creature. How this is possible? I'm not sure I leave creation up to God. Time is life, time is delicate, time is now and, time is passing. "The bad news about time is that it flies, the good news is your the pilot"
